Best rehab centre in south africa

The best rehab centre in south africa is the one where you get to have the best healing programs in the world at your fingertips. Medication is no longer the answer for many people, although it can supplement a good recovery very well. It is no longer enough. Not everyone needs or wants a luxury drug rehab centre or psychiatric clinic for that matter. Many people just despise hospitals and main stream mental health clinical settings.

Things have changed drastically in the way we treat people with emotional and mental health issues like trauma, depression, anxiety, addictions and neurodiversity treatments. It’s all changed and these changes are coming for the better. We throw the best doctors at our luxury wellness clients who come from all over the world to work on their mental health and emotional issues, usually only when they have tried, tried and tried-again the pharmaceutical roulette routes and everything from infusion therapy to crystal balls and tarot readers. Whenever they arrive we almost always wait with baited breath for the same sentence to fall out of their mouths ” I wish I knew about this advanced treatment program years ago!”

In 1963, 17-year-old Marsha was hospitalized for 26 months with severe self-harm and suicidal behaviors. Misdiagnosed and subjected to shock therapy. Given little hope. Then came her breakthrough moment in 1967: “I love myself” Marsha Linehan’s recovery story

We knew the miracle of recovery that was Marsha Linehan’s story well. About 15 years ago we wanted to be Best rehab centre in South Africa. We stayed away from all things substance abuse and mian stream as we were well aware of the super-low success rates people were getting with medical aid funded styled treatments. No, that wasn’t good enough for us. Our founder, Mark L Lockwood BA(hons)(psy) wanted to be the very best rehab centre in south africa and in the world for that matter for all things treatment resistant.

He claimed than and still claims it now that “if people want to heal and recover and renew their lives they will get what they want, they just need the right intensive and holistic, researched and proven advanced system of recovery to follow….there is nothing so resistant that it can’t be treated aside from a persons own resistance which they can change with good therapy. The very first step of the Paradigm Process is letting go of control and recovering a sense of self love. Sound simple? Yes, it has to be. But, take a look at this story of radical recovery.

The Healing and Transformation of Marsha Linehan

She was called “the most disturbed patient in the hospital.”50 years later, she saved thousands of lives. Marsha Linehan who founded DBT which is now a treatment for personality disorders and of course Cluster B personality disorders like borderline which are historically very hard to treat. She had a recovery journey from severe mental illness to psychology pioneer proves recovery isn’t just possible. It’s transformational.

In 1963, 17-year-old Marsha was hospitalized for 26 months with severe self-harm and suicidal behaviors. Misdiagnosed with schizophrenia. Subjected to shock therapy. Given little hope.

Then came her breakthrough moment in 1967:

“I love myself”

The first time she spoke to herself
in first person.

That spiritual transformation launched her mission to revolutionize mental healthcare.

She created Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), the First evidence-based treatment for borderline personality disorder or bpd.

“I honestly didn’t realize at the time that I was dealing with myself. But I suppose it’s true that I developed a therapy that provides the things I needed for so many years and never got.”
― Marsha Linehan

The Paradigm Process of Recovery

Mark L. Lockwood’s “Paradigm Process” is a comprehensive 10-pathway program designed to guide individuals from a state of suffering toward their “Sacred Self” through profound healing and life transformation.

At its core, the Paradigm Process operates on the understanding that many of our current struggles stem from “personality insurgents” – ingrained ego defense mechanisms and behavioral patterns developed in childhood for survival. While these “masks” once served a purpose, they often become tyrannical in adulthood, hindering personal growth and leading to emotional distress.

The process aims to facilitate a “paradigm shift” by teaching individuals how to:

  1. Let Go of Personality Insurgents: Each of the 10 pathways focuses on releasing a specific “insurgent” or limiting personality trait (e.g., The Controller, The Perfectionist, The Victim). This involves becoming aware of these ingrained behaviors, understanding their origins, and recognizing how they manifest as negative emotions and thoughts.
  2. Recover Sacred Emotions: Simultaneously, each pathway guides individuals in recovering a corresponding “sacred emotion” or core positive trait (e.g., Self-Love, Gratitude, Resilience). This involves cultivating new ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving that are aligned with one’s authentic self, leading to inner peace, joy, and fulfillment.

Lockwood’s approach, backed by over 25 years of research, emphasizes moving beyond merely treating symptoms to addressing the root causes within the personality. It draws on principles of psychology, neuroscience, and spiritual wisdom, incorporating practices like contemplative intelligence (CQ) and meditation to rewire neurological landscapes.

The Paradigm Process asserts that healing is an active, internal journey. By consciously working through each of the 10 pathways, individuals can shed old programs, overcome limiting beliefs, and ultimately unlock their inherent potential, transitioning from a survival mindset to a thriving and authentic existence.

The first of the steps to recovery is here for you. These we teach in our books, therapy, online and of course at our world class recovery centre in South Africa. The place in everyone’s lips when it comes to turning our lives around completely with a total life transformation.

Pathway 1: Letting go of The Controller / Recovering a sense of Self-Love

  • Letting go of The Controller involves releasing the compulsive need to maintain order and safety, which is often rooted in underlying anxiety and a feeling of powerlessness. This personality mask thrives on certainty and avoids the unknown.
  • Recovering a sense of Self-Love means accepting and valuing oneself unconditionally, which serves as the cornerstone for personal growth and helps to dispel fear, shame, and stress fuelled by low self-esteem. The process entails becoming aware of controlling behaviours like tension, blaming, and urgency, recognizing they originate internally, and then shifting focus inward to cultivate self-esteem and reduce reliance on external validation.
